What medium is this artist using to sketch?

I doubt it's oil pastels. It's a variety of media including photographs, washes (water colors) pen and ink, regular pastels and so forth. I would look up oil sticks or oil bars rather than oil pastels. They are more expensive but blend better and are more forgiving.
