Suggestions for places to visit in Europe?

I'm still in love with Paris, there is so much to do. Rome is an ancient city with beautiful cobble stones, Vatican is amazing and I'm not even religious. If you go to Rome stay near the sights you want to see, the public transit is crap, Paris has an amazing subway system, we never had to hire a car or walk too far except to & from the airport cause of the bags. Don't know about the third, the French/English/Italian countrysides sound like what you are looking for. Scotland & Ireland also come to mind, but don't go for the sunbathing. London is a great urban city with another good public transportation system. Cites like London, Paris, Rome are also make a great "home base" from which day/overnight trips to places like Stonehenge or Bath, Versailles, Pompeii originate.
