Windows Xp home?

I have windows xp home edition on my pc as well as vista business. Surprisingly vista works really well. Xp however is being really weird. Its fine except when you click and drag a window (like word or media player) the window ripples and moves really jerky, not like its supposed to. It doesn't have any viruses because the computer has never been on the internet and the copy of xp is brand new from newegg.com. Any ideas?
